Shopping: Kuala Lumpur is one of the best places in the world for shopping. What can you buy here? Just about everything! And usually at fantastic prices! Some of the best products to buy are: - Designer label fashion clothes If you are going for shopping or sight-seeing, dont miss these choices. Some are quite near to the hotel. For others you can contact the Front Office at Bestotel for tour programs. The Mall Probably two minutes drive to Bestotel is the Mall where you can find a host of shops and boutiques, a large department store, restaurants and electronic goods. The prices are quite reasonable. The Mall is across the road from the Putra World Trade Centre. Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman The shopping area along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, just minutes from Bestotel, is lined on both sides by a quaint mix of lovingly restored pre-war buildings whose windows tell a thousand tales of a rich history. Shops selling Malay artifacts, European Chinaware, Persian rugs and Indian food have found their natural place in this area, reflecting the multi-racial nature of Malaysia. Chinese Arts and Peiping Lace are a must for any collector of Oriental Arts, Antiques or curios. Here you can bargain for everything from hand made silk fabrics, fine embroidered bed and table linen, carved rosewood furniture, gold and jewellery including jades or ivory carvings. In Jalan Masjid India, located just a block away, you can find all things Indian: colorful sarees, sarongs and textiles. Batu Caves Less than ten minutes from Bestotel is the world famous Batu Caves. You can spend a whole day admiring the colorful Indian temples and architecture in the area. The main temple is in a cave and has a ceiling 100 metres overhead; it sits on a hill, taking 272 steps to get there. Visitors can also spend an afternoon wandering around the various cave formations inside. On Thaipusam, an Indian festival, the caves are bustling with of activity, and hundreds of thousands of devotees and believers, Hindus and non-Hindus, make their way up the steps, carrying kavadis or milk pots. F.R.I.M. The Forest Research Institute of Malaysia or http://www.frim.gov.my/ has many attractions for the general visitors, nature lovers and tourists. The lush, 1528 ha of greenery, about 15 km northwest of Kuala Lumpur or just 20 minutes from Bestotel, lets you walk through a living tropical rain forest. Some of the attractions include Nature Trails and jogging trails, a museum, arboreta, Traditional Malay Houses, a Canopy Walkway, Picnic Area / Waterfall, a botanic garden, ponds, wetland area, and insectarium. Paya Indah Wetlands The Paya Indah Wetlands is the stopover venue for thousands of migratory birds flying south every year. Putrajaya Putrajaya is the new administrative capital of Malaysia and has attractions open to the public. Putrajaya is a state-of-the-art construction and part of the multi-media super corridor proect of Malaysia. Its Putra Mosque is a lovely blend of Islamic design and modernism, the Prime Minister's Office is a work of art and Wetlands Putrajaya is nature's work of art. Melaka Historic Melaka is a popular day-trip destination for visitors to KL. This 600-year old city marks one of the greatest empires of the past. We suggest you leave for Melaka early in the day. You can shop for antiques, and there is lots to see. |

You can visit the Casino to win a million or two. And you can explore the Theme Park to enjoy the simple pleasures of being away from the real world! Daily tours available from Front Office at Bestotel. The Petronas Twin Towers The world's tallest building, the Petronas Twin Towers houses the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). At the KLCC, 15-20 minutes away from Bestotel, you find a huge shopping mall with beautiful fashion, designer label clothes, branded shoes and leather bags as well as renowned cosmetics. KLCC is very upmarket but not the cheapest in K.L. You can also find just about any type of food here and relax at one of the side walk cafés facing the lake. The Lake Gardens Perhaps 10 minutes from the hotel, this great big park offers a host of exotic attractions such as the Butterfly Farm and the Bird Park and lots more to see. You can spend a half a day or the whole day. Dont panick if you lose your way, all the walking trails end at main streets of the city. BB Plaza & Sungai Wang These twin malls are busy, and filled with great bargains. Nearby you can also find the Starhill Shopping Centre, Lot 10, and many side walk cafes where the young and old gather specially in the evenings to have a meal or enjoy a cup of coffee. They are probably 30 minutes away from Bestotel because of the heavy traffic in the area. Mega Mall & Bangsar This is the longest mall in Malaysia and is about 15 minutes away from bestotel. You can easily spend a whole day here and a lot of your money too. The place is filled with all kinds of goodies! But save some of your life savings as there are still more interesting places to come. Within few minutes of the Mega Mall is Bangsar which is a hip and happening place in K.L. Bangsar is an area of several intersecting roads lined on both sides with cafes, discos, pubs and bars. And of course more shops. Enjoy. Explore. People are very friendly. You can also find clothes and T-shirts and imported arts and crafts; even figurines and images of Chinese and Hindu deities. Chinatown This place is a must-see and an important part of Kuala Lumpur. Go to Jalan Petaling for amazing bargains on T-shirts, branded leather goods, toys, fabrics, food and fruit and everything else under the sun. Pirated software and music CDs or video CDs are available here. You can walk from China town to the central market. Sunway Lagoon Sunway Lagoon is a fantastic waterpark and theme park with adrenaline-pumping rides and beautiful scenery surrounding it. You'll really enjoy your time there. And there is a huge shopping mall next to that park too! |
